Dr. Cohlmia was born in Woodward, Oklahoma’s hospital and lived in Buffalo, Oklahoma for two years. His family moved to Wichita, Kansas where he completed his education through high school at Wichita West High School. His first semester of college was at Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas and the next three and a half years of college was at Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. In 1970, he started dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. After dental school in 1974, he practiced general dentistry and was a Clinical Instructor at Baylor College of Dentistry in the Operative Department for two years. During the fall semester of 1976, Dr. Cohlmia started his Orthodontic graduate program at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. After completion of his graduate program, he started his private practice in East Richardson in the fall of 1978, where he is actively practicing.

In addition to his Master of Science degree in Orthodontics, he is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 1989. Also, Dr. Cohlmia has been Invisalign™ Certified since 2001. His memberships include the Greater Dallas Association of Orthodontists, Texas Orthodontic Association, Texas Orthodontic Study Club, Southwest Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Dallas County Dental Society, Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Cohlmia supports Baylor College of Dentistry – Century Club, St. Louis Alumni Association and Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation in St. Louis, Missouri. He has supported the American Association of Orthodontic Foundation. Recent recognitions have been from the D Magazine 2003 “Best Dentists in Dallas – Orthodontists” voted on by his peers in the dental field. Also, the Texas Monthly Magazine has listed his ‘Best Orthodontist in Texas” 2003-2007. Dr. Cohlmia is an avid golfer, and gets out on the golf course every chance he gets.

He enjoys both college and professional sports. If you’re wondering who he roots for, that would be the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks on the professional level. But when it comes to college sports his teams are the University of Oklahoma for football and the University of Kansas for basketball. In his spare time he considers himself a “foodie” who enjoys both eating and cooking with family and friends.

Rosie Garza, RDA

As a Registered Dental Assistant, Rosie has been working for Dr. Cohlmia since 2006. She is a vital part of the practice due to her multi-tasking skills, not only in the treatment area but at the from desk due to being bilingual. Rosie has been a Dental Assistant for over 30 years plus, and has worked in various phase of Dentistry, including Periodontal, Oral Surgery, and General Dentistry. She’s friendly, outgoing and compassionate, and with her undoubted passion for dentistry she insists the year have flown by. In her spare time Rosie enjoys Jazzercise, going to concerts, and seeing first run movies. She also loves spending time with her family and cheering on her grandchildren at their various sporting event and school functions.

Evelyn Pineda Vega, RDA

Evy has been in orthodontics since 2003 and joined our practice in 2007 where she assists Dr. Cohlmia to achieve the best possible smile for her patients. “Being able to help create brighter smiles as a part of my career and daily life is enlightening to me. The best part about my job is that every day I get to see the confidence that a wonderful new smile can build.” In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and taking mini vacations.

Joan Ensminger

Joan, the first friendly face everyone sees when they walk into the office. After 18½ yrs. greeting patients, parents and friends, Joan decided to retire at the end of 2014. We would like to wish Joan good luck in her many new adventures to come and thank her for her many years of dedication to our practice.

Diane Downing

Diane Downing, business assistant and patient relation, has been in Dentistry for 18 years. She is responsible for helping patients schedule appointments, file insurance claims and make financial arrangements when needed. Diane enjoys forging friendships with patients and is excited to see them each time they walk in the door. When not smiling at the front desk. Diane can be found hunting antiques, baking and entertaining family and friends. Diane and her husband Kyle have four Children: Brant, Blake, Grace, Hannah and two grandchildren.
